SUMMER CAMP YARN
Summer Camp Yarn is hand dyed in the sun on the shores of Cape Cod.
Summer Camp is the brainchild of COVID-19 quarantine. My husband had been encouraging me to dye yarn for quite some time, as he saw I felt the need to be creative beyond the needles. Camp was canceled for the summer. My boys live for camp so this was quite a devastating blow. So I set out to simulate camp as much as I could. We have swimming (thank you pool in a box and trips to the beach), games, archery, and ART. In an attempt to "live the dream in quarantine" and to simulate camp as much as we could, we took the encouragement of my husband and merged it with ART creating Summer Camp Yarns. Its a fun time to dye yarn (in the sun of course) and include my boys into the creative process. They both knit so why not!? We have never dyed yarn - but they have proven to be quite talented. From the speckles, the the labels - they help with every step.
(full disclosure: we use professional acid dyes of which masks and gloves are always worn. we recycle our fully exhausted dye water across our "operation" - which is currently in the driveway under the sun!)
